Letters To The Editor

One of my favorite columns in the Crescent is that by Abu Dharr.

This is one of the first columns I read when I get my copy of the magazine. His articles are informative and enlightening and right on target. There are also times when they surpass their usual brilliant self. This was the case in the last issue when Abu Dharr discussed the situation of al-Ikhwan al-Muslimoon in Egypt. There are many issues that an average Muslim would not be aware of.

It was an eye opener for me to read that the Khaliji elites, flushed with petrodollars, are fuming at the Ikhwan for introducing “politics” into Islam and for being ungrateful for the hospitality offered to them by the ruling tribal sheikhs. They are equally upset that the Ikhwan are “attracting” their Sunni citizens into their orbit, thereby threatening the fun-loving sheikhs of the Persian Gulf and their even more sinful Saudi cousins. The Ikhwan must heed the brotherly advice offered by Abu Dharr by quoting the noble Messenger (pbuh) that “a committed Muslim is not stung from the same burrow twice.”
