Since many people worldwide have become vocal in condemning Israel’s crimes against the Palestinians, the opportunistic but cowardly Zionists are clearly showing signs of panic. They have resorted to their time-tested tactic: hurling allegations of anti-Semitism against every critic of Israel. People of the Jewish faith that criticize Israeli policies are branded as “self-hating Jews.”

The campaign of vilification is just as evident in the US as it is in Britain and Canada. When US Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib criticized the Israeli policy of colonizing Palestinian lands or for having a malign influence on US foreign policy, they were denounced as being “anti-Jewish.” Not only President Trump but even Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the House of Representatives, a fellow Democrat, piled up on the two courageous congresswomen. Last November, the Trump regime reversed decades-long US policy by declaring that Israeli colonies on the occupied West Bank did not contravene international law. In other words, Israel can continue to steal Palestinian lands and Washington will shield it from opprobrium.

In Canada an equally bizarre episode exposed Zionist hysteria. On November 20, Israeli reservists were invited by Herut Canada to speak at York University in Toronto. Herut had emerged in Israel from Menachem Begin’s Irgun terrorist gang. When Palestinian students at York campus and their supporters protested the presence of military reservists of a foreign country trying to recruit at a Canadian university (an illegal act), members of the Jewish Defence League (JDL) attacked them. One victim of JDL assault ended up in hospital. Far from condemning such JDL-instigated violence at a Canadian university, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, and Toronto mayor John Tory all denounced the protesting Palestinian students as “anti-Semites.” This was done under pressure from pro-Israeli Zionist groups. Regrettably, elected officials in Canada resorted to blatant lies and joined the Zionist-instigated smear campaign. The assailant was not charged.

In Britain, the Zionists launched an even more serious vilification campaign. It was directed at Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and his party before the general election on December 12. In a well-orchestrated campaign, Corbyn was accused of being an “anti-Semite.” Britain’s Chief Rabbi, Ephraim Mirvis, in an article in The Times accused Corbyn of being “unfit for office” because of alleged anti-Semitism in the Labour Party.

Quite aside from the inappropriate intervention of a religious leader in politics (Rabbi Mirvis had earlier warmly congratulated Boris Johnson on becoming prime minister!), the fact is Corbyn is neither racist nor anti-Jewish. He and some members of the party are critical of Israel and its mistreatment of Palestinians. Corbyn’s real sin is that he had announced that if elected prime minister he would cut military trade with Israel and move to officially recognize a Palestinian state. It was this position of Corbyn that irked the Zionists in Britain to launch a vicious campaign against him because he is committed to justice and fairness. The Zionists have celebrated Corbyn’s loss in the December 12 general elections.

The Zionists insist Israel cannot be criticized; it is above the law. Such claims are not only absurd they are dangerous and ultimately feed anti-Semitism as Gideon Levy pointed out in the Ha‘aretz newspaper.
