What we are witnessing in Egypt is the direct result of operating within the existing corrupt order.

Egypt is an important Muslim country; how the state functions has important implications for the wider Muslim Ummah. Its recent travails, however, are self-inflicted. The Ikhwan have not been as bold as they ought to be; their opponents — backed by external powers — are determined to stir trouble and destabilize the country. Relying on institutions inherited from the old regime and then complaining they are not doing their job is naïve. Without comprehensive change, the Ikhwan will face many more such problems.
