Protests by a few dozen people—even the British propaganda mouthpiece the BBC admitted that they were no more than a hundred or so (BBC World news, December 30)—are being projected as being against the government and the Islamic system.

Protests that started on December 28 in the northern city of Mashhad over rising food prices are being turned by agents provocateurs and given an anti-government twist. Informed observers on the scene say masked men—and some women—are raising anti-government slogans and these are being projected through the social media as “proof” that the people are against the Islamic system.

Who are these agents provocateurs? Members of the group commonly known as munafiqeen, aided and abetted by the US, Zionist Israel and the Banu Saud-ruled medieval kingdom, are behind them. Earlier this year, Saudi crown (clown) prince Muhammad bin Salman had declared war on Iran and said he would wage it inside Iran.

The legitimate concerns of the people over rising prices are being given a sinister twist and deliberately projected by the Western corporate media and Western regimes as being directed against the Islamic system of governance.

The vagabond in the White House (aka Donald Trump) also waded in with his customary tweet saying: “the world is watching Iran.”

Exactly a week earlier (December 21), the world through the UN had delivered a tight slap on Trump’s face over his Jerusalem announcement.

Trump does not represent or speak for the world. The vagabond and liar does not even represent the American people; he is an illegitimate president (a majority of American voters did not support him in the 2016 elections).

The Islamic Republic, on the other hand, has nothing to hide. It will deal with the provocateurs with a firm hand.

Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri has announced that the government will address the legitimate concerns of the people and was cognizant of the difficulties rising food prices had created for them.

Trump is a Zionist lapdog. Jared Kushner, a hardcore Zionist, has grabbed Trump’s daughter and the evil pair is driving US policy in a direction where the US has become indistinguishable from Zionist Israel.

On December 30, hundreds of thousands of Iranians came out in support of the Islamic system and particularly in support of the Rahbar Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei but the Western media focused on a few hundred protesters the vast majority of whom are not against the government but merely concerned about rising prices.

These are legitimate concerns and the government has a responsibility to address them seriously. One of the responsibilities of a government—any government—is to address the legitimate concerns of the people. Just because people are unhappy about certain things does not mean that they want to overthrow the government or the ruling system.

Such talk emanates from the enemies of the Islamic Republic that have suffered repeated defeats at the hands of Islamic Iran and its allies. Today, Islamic Iran is the most stable country in the region, thanks to the wisdom of its leadership and the support of the overwhelming majority of people.

The terrorist group, Mujahideen-e Khalq Organization (MKO) that is commonly known as the munafiqeen are aided, trained and financed by the US, Zionist Israel and Yahudi (Saudi) Arabia. At the terrorist group’s meeting in Paris last August, leading figures from all three countries were present.

From the US such well-known rightwing terrorist supporters as Rudy Giuliani, John Bolton and the cancer-infested John McCain were present. The former Saudi intelligence chief Prince Turki al Faisal who has publicly embraced the Zionist war criminals was also there. The Zionist statelet was represented by a number of former intelligence chiefs.

If the terrorists and their foreign masters think they can overthrow the Islamic system of governance by small protests or indulging in acts of vandalism, then they know nothing about the stability of the Islamic system in place in Iran.

Last June, US-Saudi-backed terrorists had attacked Iran’s parliament building and shot and killed several people before being shot. These terrorists had slipped into the building dressed as women!

The parliament was in session but it continued its operations even as the security forces engaged the terrorists in gun-battle eventually killing all three of them.

The terrorist outfit ISIS claimed responsibility. The US, Zionist Israel and the Saudis had applauded the terrorist attack.

Iran's interior minister warned the protesters to avoid "illegal gatherings". Foreign-backed agents are egging on people to ignore the warning. Some of them have set fire to police vehicles as well as some buildings.

What country would allow such vandalism and destructive conduct? When Islamic Iran deals with such terrorist acts with a firm hand, it is immediately accused of “oppressing” people.

It has every right to put down such criminal conduct firmly and to apprehend those behind them. They need to be given exemplary punishment for sedition and acts of terrorism.

At the same time, as a responsible government, it must address the legitimate concerns of the people with sympathy and care. That is its responsibility to the people.
