Hizbullah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said his group would not join the US-led coalition to fight the takfiris because America itself was the biggest source of terrorism. He also accused Washington of aiding, arming and training the terrorists.

Denouncing the US as the mother of terrorism, Hizbullah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah said there was no question of the resistance movement joining the US-led coalition against the takfiris.

During his much-anticipated address on Tuesday September 23, the leader of Hizbullah said he opposed the coalition announced by the US, "because America is the mother and source of terrorism and it is an ultimate supporter of Zionism." He also rejected claims that by refusing to join the anti-ISIS coalition, he was actually supporting the takfiris. He said America and its allies created, funded and armed these terrorists. It was hypocritical to now talk about forming a coalition to fight it.

Seyyed Nasrallah listed a litany of US crimes. He said Washington that had “launched atomic bomb attacks against people in Japan and launched wars in Vietnam [and]… supported [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu in the 50-day war against Gaza… is not qualified ethically and morally to present itself as a fighter against terrorism or as a leader for an international coalition” against terrorism.

He also called upon the Lebanese government not to show weakness in confronting the terrorist threat especially in view of the kidnapping of 26 Lebanese soldiers in Ersal area.

He also called upon the Lebanese government not to show weakness in confronting the terrorist threat especially in view of the kidnapping of 26 Lebanese soldiers in Ersal area. The takfiris have murdered two of them and beheaded a third. The Hizbullah leader said that showing weakness against terrorism would invite further terrorist acts. He said there could only be negotiations with such groups if they first stopped the killing of soldiers that they had kidnapped. Seyyed Nasrallah also condemned the Zionist state of Israel as the mother of terrorism in the region.

Also on Tuesday, Israel announced it had shot down a Syrian MiG-21 plane over the Golan Heights. Syria admitted one of its planes had been shot down and said it was an act of aggression and showed that the zionists were supporting the takfiris and terrorists of al-Nusra Front.

The US launched a series of air strikes against Raqqa in eastern Syria claiming to have killed a number of terrorists in the early hours of Tuesday. Joining the attack were also Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, as per President Barack Obama’s statement from the White House.

A spokesman for Syrian foreign ministry said the US had notified his government of the impending attack. Syria’s ambassador to the UN, Bashar al-Jafaari also confirmed being informed prior to the attack. There appears to be tacit understanding between the government of Syria and the US about hitting takfiri targets in Syria.

Russia, Iran and now Hizbullah have rejected such attacks. None of them has agreed to join the US-led coalition believing that doing so would provide the US the pretext to intensify its meddling in regional affairs. The US has already said the war against the takfiris is likely to last for at least four years.
