Iran has dealt a severe blow to US terrorist operations by capturing the ringleader of a terrorist group based in the United States.
Jamshid Sharmahd, 65, who led “armed operations and acts of sabotage” inside Iran, was captured by the country’s security forces, according to a statement by Iran’s Intelligence Ministry on August 1.
Based in Los Angeles, California (US) since 2003, Sharmahd is an Electronics Engineer, according to the group’s website that he heads.
The LA-based group calls itself the ‘Kingdom Assembly of Iran’ - also known as Tondar (Thunder).
Its aim is to overthrow the Islamic government in Iran and bring back the monarchy, with US backing.
The Tondar group had planned and carried out a deadly terrorist attack on Seyyed al-Shuhada mosque in the southern city of Shiraz in 2008.
The terrorist attack killed 14 people and wounded 215 others.
Iran’s Intelligence Ministry said in its statement, “Following a complicated operation, the ringleader of the group, Tondar (Thunder), was arrested and he is ‘now in the powerful hands’ of Iranian security forces.”
The terrorist outfit had also sought to conduct several other criminal operations across the country over the past few years, according to the ministry.
“Jamshid Sharmahd and his associates conducted around 27 acts of terror all of which were thwarted thanks to the perseverance, vigilance and knowledge of Iranian intelligence agents,” said Mahmoud Alvi, Iran’s Minister of Intelligence.
Following capture of the US-backed terrorist mastermind, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said the US regime must be held accountable for “supporting this terrorist grouplet (Tondar) and other [terrorist] outfits as well as criminals that lead sabotage, armed and terrorist operations from within the United States against the Iranian people” and shed the blood of Iranians.
Sharmahd had fled Iran and acquired German citizenship before moving to the US in 2003.
It should be noted that the deposed Shah’s son and his mother reside in Los Angeles where criminals and other undesirable elements have congregated around the family.
They receive massive funding from the US regime in its attempt to overthrow the popularly-established Islamic government in Iran.
The US regime has also supported for decades the terrorist outfit known as the Mujahideen-e Khalq Organization (MKO), that the people of Iran have dubbed the munafiqeen.
Placed on the terrorist list in 1997, the group continued to maintain its operations in the US.
It had its office on Pennsylvania avenue only a few blocks from the White House.
Finding the MKO terrorists useful for its destabilizing and terrorist operations against Iran, the US regime removed the group from its terrorist list in 2013.
Several congressmen support the terrorist group and Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, is a regular fixture at the MKO’s annual hatefests, usually held in Paris.
John Bolton, the ousted and disgraced former National Security advisor to Trump, is another regular guest.
They are paid huge sums of money for spewing anti-Iranian hatred.
For a fistful of dollars, these Americans will sell their grandmothers.
The Islamic Republic, however, is inflicting massive blows to US-backed terrorist outfits.
