The Washington based al-monitor.com reported on July 13 recent talks held between Palestinian Islamic resistance movements and the leadership of Islamic Iran.

According to al-monitor.com “Ismail Haniyeh said on July 6 that he had received a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, confirming that his country will continue to provide support to the Palestinians. The message comes after Iranian Shura Council Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf made two phone calls to Haniyeh and Islamic Jihad Secretary-General Ziyad al-Nakhalah July 1, to discuss mechanisms and ways to thwart Israel’s annexation plan… Mahmoud al-Zahar, a member of Hamas political bureau, had said during an interview with Al-Nahda News July 9, 2019, that Hamas had been making great efforts in a bid to restore relations with the Syrian government backed by the Iranian regime (sic).”

Al-monitor also cited Hassan Abdo, a writer and political analyst close to Islamic Jihad saying that “many other Arab countries turned their back on the Palestinians and contributed in intensifying their blockade, making way for the US deal of the century and the annexation plan, which is part of it. Iran’s position was exactly the opposite.”

In 2013, citing Palestinian Islamic Jihad, al-monitor reported that the movement confirmed that Iran supplies all weapons in Gaza to various resistance organizations.

Amid deliberately propagated sectarian rhetoric peddled by corporate media and often spread by naïve Muslims on social media, these facts shatter the Sunni-Shia fragmentation propaganda.

As the Zionist-US plot against Iran in Syria has been successfully thwarted, Iran is taking major geopolitical strides.

Such tangible cooperation between Iran and regional Islamic movements is likely to increase.

Israeli surrogates in the region will be unable to hinder this trajectory.

In March 2019, Carnegie reported that “in July 2017, Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood engaged in the most high-profile public meeting between the parties since Morsi’s removal from power in Egypt. Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, met with Ibrahim Munir on the sidelines of a meeting of the Islamic Unity Forum…. Despite opposition to Iran in Sunni Islamist circles, the Muslim Brotherhood’s contacts with Iran serve as an important safety net for the group in a time of growing regional and global uncertainty.”

The Arab masses know well that the two patches of land liberated from the Zionist clutches—Gaza and South Lebanon—was achieved through resistance, recognized by the UN as legitimate struggle. In both cases, Islamic Iran’s support was instrumental in achieving this outcome.

With time, the resistance front will gain strength. Oppressors and colonizers, despite their brutal methods, have not been able to hold onto the territory of other people indefinitely.

This is an important lesson from history.
