Letters To The Editor

Reader Shaista Mirza believes the Saudis’ renewed interest in Pakistan is motivated by ulterior motives.

Do the rulers of Saudi Arabia really care for Pakistan and its people? If so, this leads to the next question: why are Pakistani workers, as indeed other foreign workers, treated so badly and inhumanly in the desert kingdom? They are given slave wages and denied human dignity. So we must look elsewhere for answers to the Saudis’ renewed interest in Pakistan. The Saudi regime is facing serious internal and external problems. They are looking for Pakistani military support as well as a free nuclear weapon to shore up their crumbling dynastic rule. Pakistan should not oblige.
