As if life was not miserable enough under constanct zionist bombardment, Palestinians in Gaza are facing severe flooding.

Heavy rains and floods have drenched their make-shift tents, many collapsing under strong winds.

Not only their tents but also their meagre belongings—blankets, sheets, clothes, food—have all been drenched.

Sewage has seeped into their tents from the overloaded pipes adding to their misery.

Palestinians have had to throw away their blankets, clothes and food because they became contaminated with sewage.

At least 14 children have died in Gaza because of cold.

It has rained almost non-stop for two weeks.

Water levels reached nearly 30 cm inside the tents.

Families try desperately to scoop the water out of tents but there is no place to throw it out.

Cold has resulted in many children falling ill, made worse by lack of food and medicines.

The worst affected areas are in the south around Khan Younus.

Most Palestinan families have been forced to move out of their homes from other parts of Gaza after Israel bombed and destroyed them.

The plight of Saber Dawas and his wife is typical of most Palestinian families.

The family from Beit Lehia has been struggling to keep their seven daughters warm and dry after heavy rain and strong winds destroyed their tent in Gaza.

The family has been living in a makeshift tent at al-Yarmouk stadium in central Gaza since their home was destroyed by Israel’s relentless bombing.

Two weeks earlier, rainwater had already flooded their tent, reaching nearly 30cm.

His daughters fell ill with cold that lasted for days.

His worst fears were realized when heavy rain and winds destroyed their tent despite trying desperately to hold it up with wooden poles and bare hands.

“I spent the first night of the rain holding the tent up with my own hands as rain poured in from every direction,” Saber was quoted by Middle East Eye.

“It felt like I had done nothing at all. The tent collapsed on us in the first hours of the rain.”

His daughters shivered through the night as water soaked everything inside.

“All our clothes, blankets and food were drenched,” he said.

“I didn’t know what to do or where to take my family.”

Saber’s youngest daughter, just two years old, suffers from stomach cancer and has a severely weakened immune system.

“I keep moving her from one tent to another in the camp,” he said.

“Everything is flooded, and she has the flu. I can’t even get her medicine.”

In his desperation and unable to help his daughters, he said “I wish I had died before reaching a day where I watch my daughters freezing while I can’t provide them warmth.

“Is this what a ceasefire looks like? Instead of being in our homes we are dying of cold in fragile tents.”

Other families at the camp are facing the same ordeal, especially those living in worn-out tents unable to withstand the rain and winter storms.

Zionist Israel has slaughtered more than 70,000 Palestinians, the vast majority of them women and children, since October 7, 2023.

The actual death toll is much higher, according to many experts.

The genocidal zionists have blocked food, water and medicine from entering the enclave.

Less than a third of aid trucks—at least 600 trucks are needed daily—are allowed into Gaza.

Similarly, the zionist war criminals have prevented proper shelters from being delivered to Gaza, resulting in heart-wrenching tragedies.

The zionists have bombed and destroyed almost every house and building in Gaza as part of a deliberate policy to force the Palestinians out of the enclave.

Aided and abetted by the US and the Europeans, the zionists’ diabolical plot is to ethnically cleanse the Palestinians from Gaza and turn it into their demonic “Riviera of the Middle East.”

There is no other way to describe barbarism and cruelty.
