The Zionists have escalated their attacks on Palestinians resisting the illegal occupiers' attempts to take over Masjid al-Aqsa with a view to its destruction to build their Temple there.

Pitched battles have broken out between the Palestinians and occupation forces of the Israeli regime.

A day earlier when two Palestinian brothers attacked worshippers in a synagogue, the entire western world erupted in a frenzy of grief and breast beating. The two Palestinians were killed in the attack. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu immediately ordered the demolition of the Palestinians’ home and of any other Palestinian involved in attacking Israeli troops. The attack by the Palestinian brothers did not occur in a vacuum.

A Palestinian bus driver was lynched and found hanging in a bus as he was coming home on Sunday November 16.

“In the East Jerusalem neighbourhood of Jabal al-Mukaber—the hometown of the two Palestinians who carried out the attack on the Har Nof Synagogue on Tuesday morning—Israeli troops were confronted by angry Palestinians,” reported the English-language website of Al Jazeera on November 19. “The Israeli troops were headed to the area to demolish the homes of the Abu Jamal cousins who carried out the synagogue attack.” The story made reference to an attack by Palestinians on an Israeli synagogue in response to the lynchings and violence unleashed by Israelis against Palestinians in recent weeks. The Al Jazeera story provided further details on the violence against Palestinians: “At least 10 Palestinians were wounded in violence near al-Ram, a Jerusalem neighbourhood that has been cut off from the rest of the city by the Israeli separation wall. Approximately 25 others were wounded in Sur Baher, south of Jerusalem, Palestinian medical sources told Al Jazeera. Violence also flared in the occupied West Bank with Israeli settlers attacking a school in the village of Urif, south of Nablus. Clashes ensued and at least five Palestinians were wounded by rubber-coated steel bullets while others were taken to hospital with tear-gas-related injuries.”

The situation first erupted after the Israeli occupation forces stormed Masjid al-Aqsa on November 5. The structure of Masjid al-Aqsa was damaged during that attack, and the Israeli government further escalated the situation by preventing Palestinian worshippers from entering the noble Sanctuary. The Zionist regime is deliberately escalating the situation. Extremist politicians in Netanyahu’s cabinet are agitating for exclusive Jewish access to the Masjid Al-Aqsa compound. Traditionally, Jews have prayed at the Wailing Wall, while Muslims have observed their rites in Al-Aqsa Mosque. Ever since the Six Day war, Israel has tacitly observed Muslim rights to worship at Al-Aqsa by prohibiting Jewish prayer there.

However, politicians such as Housing Minister Uri Ariel and Deputy Parliament Speaker Moshe Feiglin have claimed that Jews should have the right to pray at the site where Al-Aqsa is located. The Zionists claim they want to rebuild the Temple of Solomon, which means demolishing Al-Aqsa mosque. However, only the vociferous protests of Israeli Arabs and Palestinians have prevented that from occurring so far. The Zionist escalation of attacks on Palestinians is meant to divert attention from their nefarious agenda as they continue to pollute the holy sanctuary with their filthy boots.
