With so many wars raging everywhere in the Muslim world, it is easy to forget the poor Afghans. The Palestinian and Kashmiri struggles may be the longest in contemporary history but in terms of suffering and lost lives, the Afghans have paid the highest price of all the people. And there is no likelihood of any respite in their suffering despite the possibility of peace talks.

Most people think Afghanistan is a poor country. Not true. It has vast mineral resources. That is why so many world powers are interested in its affairs. Everyone wants to grab these riches and exclude others. The Afghan ruling elites have also not served their people well. They are lining their own pockets and indulge in nepotism while ordinary people suffer.
