Homosexuality is a sin in Islam. There can be no Islamic argument to the contrary.
Until secularism peaked, people who engaged in such abominable practices were considered sick!
It was as recently as 1987 that homosexuality fell off the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) classification as a mental disorder.
The World Health Organization unclassified it as such even later, in 1990.
That being said, in Islam people have the freedom to pursue a private lifestyle of their choice, even if it is an abominable one such as homosexuality.
An Islamic government does not have the right to invade the privacy of individuals to see what they do behind closed doors. That is between them and Allah.
What people do not have the right to do is to mainstream abominable ideas, make it a social norm and then impose it on those who choose to live a lifestyle sanctioned by Allah, viz. a heterosexual lifestyle within the sanctity of marriage.
The attempt to mainstream homosexuality, make it a social norm and then impose it is a provocation which could boil over with serious repercussions, even deadly consequences.
This is what happened on February 15 in South Africa when a public figure known for his affiliation and advocacy of homosexuality was gunned down.
But this was no ordinary occurrence. This person was touted as the first Muslim gay Imam—an oxymoron of epic proportions.
While the matter is under investigation and the motive for the murder remains unknown, it may be timely to reflect on more pertinent matters.
Reflecting on the ugly, a so-called mufti notorious for ignorant sectarian rants and incitement said: “the guy deserves to die. He was muted. Nobody is allowed to bury him as a muslim in a muslim graveyard. The person who shot him did a good job. He was shot from the back which was good because he liked backdoor business. Anybody who buries him also becomes a murtad.”
Such people follow the usurper king Mu‘awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan. They are utterly uncivilized and devoid of rahmah (grace and mercy).
All they talk about and act out is Muslim on Muslim violence.
As was mentioned earlier, the mainstreaming of homosexual behavior, which is reminiscent of the behavior of the people of Prophet Lut, is un-Islamic.
It poses an unprecedented challenge that needs to be dealt with through a multi-pronged approach.
There are many interfering factors that range from diet to medication to indoctrination which cause human beings to become inclined to homosexual behavior.
Most of these factors are systemic and structural.
The production of un-natural foods in diets, side effects related to medication and indoctrination of children at a very young age with ideas that are immoral tamper with the fitrah (natural disposition) of not only Muslims, but all human beings.
Killing a faasiq (degenerate) prayer leader for attempting to solemnize a homosexual marriage or a marriage between a Muslimah and a non-Muslim resolves nothing.
If anything, such a murder is sure to fall directly into the zionist plot to criminalize the Muslims in South Africa as not only anti-Semitic but also anti freedom of choice and intolerant bigots not worthy of living under a democracy.
Should it eventually turn out after investigation that this criminal act was inspired by the usual sectarian bigots on the fringes of society from Port Elizabeth who serve the zionist agenda and narrative then no one should be surprised.
People from that fringe usually openly call for slaughtering other Muslims whom they disagree with.
Reflecting on the bad, it is likely that the liberal status quo Muslims will condemn this act of criminality especially if it turns out that Muslims killed the faasiq prayer leader.
Then, reacting to them will be the conservatives who will condemn these liberals and another endless cycle of division will be given birth to.
Compounding this bad state of affairs are some ignorant Muslims who even went to the extent of equating this senseless, criminal act of murdering a faasiq prayer leader with the genocide in Gaza.
This senseless murder stems from the state’s legalization of homosexuality and other social ills.
Previously a Muslim, related to the ruling party, legalized alcohol and gambling with no consequence.
Yet here was a soft target. Muslims ought to focus their energy towards the state for legalizing these social ills.
The homosexual actions must be emphatically called out as sinful, and those indulging in such actions require treatment in the manner that sick patients are treated.
Cold blooded murder of homosexual does not solve the systemic and structural issues related to this phenomenon.
This criminal act has the potential of triggering the state into taking a number of steps against Musims. Among them could be to get prayer leaders to perform homosexual marriages after using this murder as a pretext to ensure that they undergo anti-discrimination training in order to remain accredited to officiate over any/all marriages.
Should they refuse, they are likely to have their accreditation as marriage officers revoked on the basis of discrimination.
Things could go even further with the state, under zionist-US inspired instruction, managing these so-called Masajid if the discrimination is linked to them.
This is happening in other countries such as Britain.
Perhaps, permission to build future Masajid could be tied to a non-discriminatory policy. Only Allah knows where this could end.
Reflecting on the good, perhaps the facade about a religiously free/Islamic friendly country may be about to end sooner than we thought.
Such a development could also potentially mean that Muslims may unite sooner than we thought.
Looking at the immediate aftermath, it is going to be tricky for both the state and their clergy-class actors and enablers within the Muslim community... unless Muslims just roll over and accept every state imposition.
The clergy-class usually accepts everything imposed by the secular state under the pretext, “this is not an Islamic country”.
As for those who are sincerely seeking to understand and implement the Islamic imperative, it is essential to recognize that even in an Islamic state there are pre-conditions to fulfill before enacting capital punishment on the statute books and then implementing them.
An Islamic state may pass a law permitting capital punishment as a deterrent but without resolving the underlying issues, capital punishment would be an imposition if it is implemented,
It may even become an injustice if the sinner is a victim of GMO foods or medication that tamper with their genes/DNA thereby upsetting the fitrah of the sinner.
These are the real, serious issues that Muslims should resolve before they rush to pronounce judgement by quoting the Qur’an:
"ومن لم يحكم بما أنزل الله فأولئك هم الكافرون"
"ومن لم يحكم بما أنزل الله فأولئك هم الفاسقون"
"ومن لم يحكم بما أنزل الله فأولئك هم الظالمون".
Alas! Muslims are not even aware of their social responsibilities to provide wholesome food and safe medication.
In their rush to implement laws they essentially become a rabbinical implementation of something alien to Islam, in the name of Islam.
The Faqihs (Jurists) and Qadhis (Judges) throughout the centuries of Islamic scholarship understood what went into promulgating the ahkaam (laws) of the Qur’an.
Sadly, the clergy-class of today does not have a clue.
“Guide us to the Straight Way [throughout our life-long efforts] – The way of those upon whom You have bestowed Your blessings, not those who have incurred [Your] wrath, nor those who go the wrong way” (The Ascendant Qur’an, Surat Al Fatihah, verse 6-7).
