Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters marched through downtown Toronto on Sunday November 12 demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
People gathered at Nathan Philip Square before marching to the US Consulate on University Avenue.
It was one of nearly 50 co-ordinated rallies across Canada.
Such rallies have been held every weekend and even on weekdays since Israel unleashed its murderous attacks on the tiny Gaza Strip’s 2.3 million defenceless people.
There is a consistent demand: ceasefire now.
These cries, however, have fallen on deaf ears.
Politicians of all stripes are beholden to the zionist lobby and cannot imagine taking a stance based on international law, fairness and respect for human lives.
Israel is guilty of war crimes.
Western politicians, including prime minister Justin Trudeau and opposition leader Pierre Poilievre are guilty of aiding and abetting Israeli war crimes and can be hauled before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
By supporting Israel and repeating the mantra that “Israel has the right to defend itself”, they are greenlighting zionist crimes against defenceless Palestinians.
Further, their pro-Israel stance has resulted in an alarming increase in anti-Muslim hate crimes.
Already high, there has been an increase of more 1,000 percent in such hate crimes against Muslims.
Into the 39th day of its bombing, Israel has murdered more than 11,000 people, one-third of them children in Gaza.
Reports from Al-Shifa Hospital, Gaza’s largest hospital, say that 38 people, most of them children have died there due to lack of power.
In the absence of fuel, the generators cannot be run.
The hospital is completely besieged by Israeli army tanks.
Israeli snipers shoot and kill anyone who dares leave the hospital.
There are thousands of people sheltering in the hospital corridors as well as its compound.
Their homes were destroyed by Israeli bombings.
Israel is perpetrating a genocide in Gaza.
Hospitals have not only become morgues but also turned into cemeteries because people cannot bury the dead in regular cemeteries due to Israel's relentless indiscriminate bombing.
Politicians that refuse to call for a ceasefire and continue to justify Israeli war crimes are complicit and accessory to such crimes.
Canadians in large numbers support the call for a ceasefire.
The Toronto rally and scores across Canada are proof of this.
In the UK, there was a million-person march on Saturday November 11.
British home secretary, Suella Braverman who said the pro-Palestinian rally was of “hate-marchers” and accused the police of "aiding and abetting" them, was sacked today (November 13).
She had become a political liability for prime minister Rishi Sunak who is already trailing in the polls.
There is universal revulsion at Israeli barbarism and genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.
Zionist political and military rulers will be held accountable for their crimes one day.
