To wage wars of aggression, Trump tells lies to justify them. This has been the US pattern for decades.

While America’s right-wing media pundits applaud Donald Trump’s aggression against other states — Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan, and North Korea — without an iota of evidence to back up his allegations, the Left, or whatever is left of it, shakes its head in disbelief. He promised to concentrate on building America’s infrastructure and refrain from aggression abroad. The lefties are particularly upset that far from cooperating with Russia to confront ISIS, Trump has spoiled relations with Moscow and attacked a Syrian military base with cruise missiles.

The Left’s head-shaking is entirely misplaced. Those who believed Trump’s pronouncements were deluding themselves and totally ignored American history. The US is an empire that constantly needs enemies to maintain its exorbitant military spending. States, ideologies, and individuals have been demonized and presented as posing the greatest threat to American existence. Scaring the hell out of people is a time-tested formula. Unfortunately the vast majority of Americans are ill-informed, and hence easily duped, with disastrous consequences for victim societies.

Trump is simply doing what previous presidents have done: kill innocent people to look presidential and win plaudits from the deep state.
