With 98 percent of East Aleppo already cleansed of terrorists, liberation of the remaining two percent came quickly today December 13. Under a deal brokered by Russia and Turkey, the terrorists were allowed to leave the city with only light weapons.

Their retreat, however, was preceded by the evacuation of civilians and those wounded, according to Russia’s UN ambassador, Vitaly Churkin. The civilians, mostly family members of terrorists, were allowed to leave to areas still under the terrorists’ control elsewhere.

Russian ambassador Churkin said in New York around midday: “My latest information is that they indeed have an arrangement achieved on the ground that the fighters are going to leave the city,” while talking to reporters. It could happen “within hours maybe”, he said.

Some leaders of terrorist groups also confirmed that fighting would end on Tuesday evening and rebels and civilians who have been trapped in the tiny pocket of territory they hold in Aleppo would leave the city for terrorist-held areas of the countryside to the west.

Under Russian prodding, the Syrian army agreed to allow the terrorists to leave the city in order to avoid any further civilian casualties. The vast majority of civilians had already left for Government-held areas of Aleppo although the terrorists tried to block their escape.

Reports from Aleppo say celebrations have broken out in the city square as people chant slogans in favor of the government. Video footage has emerged on YouTube of thousands of cheering crowds carrying portraits of President Bashar al Asad.

In the lead-up to the liberation of Aleppo, Western governments, their media outlets as well as the West’s handmaiden, the UN, repeatedly conjured up images of ‘starving civilians’. No such starvation was witnessed as the Syrian army took almost all of the Eastern part of Aleppo.

Instead, the Lebanese al-Mayadeen television channel released footage from terrorists’ warehouses in Aleppo, where they had stored humanitarian aid and clothes and prevented people’s access to them. Jaish al-Islam, one of many terrorist groups operating in Syria, controlled one of the depots situated in al-Yarmuk School in eastern Aleppo, according to al-Mayadeen’s report.

In order to camouflage the rout of Western-backed terrorists, the UN started talking about the alleged summary execution of civilians by Syrian soldiers and allied Iraqi fighters. In order to lend credence to such propaganda, the UN put the figure at 82 dead people. It accused Syrian soldiers of “slaughtering” civilians.

The Syrian army categorically denied carrying out any such killings or torture among those captured. Russia meanwhile added said that the terrorists had “kept over 100,000 people as human shields.”

Even the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Jordanian Ra‘ad al-Hussein chimed in with his own two-bit statement. “The crushing of Aleppo, the immeasurably terrifying toll on its people, the bloodshed, the wanton slaughter of men, women and children, the destruction – and we are nowhere near the end of this cruel conflict," he said.

It is worth noting his use of words, “crushing of Aleppo” etc. Perhaps his royal highness would like to see hundreds of thousands of people held hostage by the terrorists that have shown scant regard for human life.

The Syrian army has liberated Aleppo from the clutches of foreign-backed terrorists. This fact should be celebrated, not lamented.

For nearly six years, foreign-backed terrorists that have flooded from all over the world have attacked and virtually destroyed Syria. In the process, these terrorists have perpetrated horrific crimes including public beheadings, organ eating and other heinous crimes.

With Aleppo’s liberation, the terrorists’ days appear numbered. Even their foreign sponsors can no longer save them despite US President Barack Obama authorizing new supply of weapons to the terrorists last week.

The sooner Syria is cleansed of these terrorists the sooner it will have an opportunity to start the long and arduous task of rebuilding.

Aleppo’s liberation signals the beginning of the end of the takfiri terrorist project.
