Leading to the unprovoked, illegal war on the Islamic Republic of Iran, the indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu had to sell a fairytale to Donald Trump. The convicted felon and rapist bought into the fiction that Iran had been greatly weakened by the 12-day war in June 2025. Another push would lead to its surrender.
Netanyahu argued that if Iran’s Supreme Leader, Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei and top military commanders wer eliminated, the system would collapse. American and zionist agents in Tehran would come out into the streets to lead mass protests because the people are fed up with the Islamic government.
In his White House meeting on February 11, Netanyahu told Trump he would emerge triumphant making America great again (MAGA). Hanging over his head was, of course, the Epstein files. With Trump’s “victory”, the Epstein saga would be buried. Mossad will also keep its Epstein-supplied videos and photos under wrap.
Netanyahu had tried to sell the “attack Iran” plot to previous American presidents but did not find any takers. Only in Trump did he find a narcissist ensnared in sex scandals to buy into this diabolical plot.
On paper, Netanyahu’s arguments were persuasive. Iran’s economy has been battered by 47 years of sanctions. Its currency has virtually collapsed. And he claimed people were fed up of the Islamic government. All it needed was a push from the two most powerful military machines in the world to finish the job.
The mismatch in military equipment could not be greater. The US and zionist Israel possess massive inventories of military hardware including aircraft carriers, submarines, thousands of planes, missiles, radars, and anti-missile batteries and interceptors.
Thus, when they attacked Islamic Iran on February 28, the assumption was that Tehran would not be able to last too long. In the very first strike, Iran’s Suprem Leader, Imam Khamenei was martyred, as were a number of his family members. Many top military commanders were also martyred.
No doubt, Iran’s losses were huge. Any other country would have collapsed and surrendered; not so the Islamic Republic of Iran.
What gave it the strength to withstand the onslaught of the two most heavily-armed military machines in the world? The answer lies in the Iranians’ unshakable faith in Allah. It is called the power of Imaan (faith-commitment). This needs elaboration but first let us consider some details about the mismatch between the two sides.
The US war budget for 2026 at more than $1.05 trillion will rise to $1.5 trillion in 2027. Even its current military spending exceeds the total military budgets of the next 10 countries combined. In terms of global arms spending ($2.9 trillion in 2025), the US expenditure accounts for 36 % of the total.
Add to that the zionist entity’s annual military expenditure of $45 billion and the evil duo have military budgets amounting to $1.5 trillion. Compare that to Iran’s annual defence budget of $7.4 billion in 2025. It is minuscle compared to the evil duo’s military budgets.
Based on such huge disparity in military spending, Iran was and is no match for the firepower of the evil duo. Yet, it not only withstood their combined onslaught backed by the Europeans and the Arabian potentates, but Tehran convincingly defeated both.
How did Iran manage to achieve such a remarkable feat with paltry resources? Conventional armies try to match the enemy’s planes, ships, submarines, tanks and guns. If country A has 1,000 tanks, country B must have 1,100 tanks. The same applies to planes, guns and the number of soldiers.
Islamic Iran did not follow this route. It adopted asymmetrical warfare strategy. Its airforce comprising an aging fleet of F-4s, F-5s, F-14s, MiG-29s and SU-25, is no match for American F-15s and F-16s, much less the stealth F-35s. Instead, Iran opted for drones, tens of thousands of them, as well as missiles, all indigenously produced.
Economically, too, Islamic Iran has faced decades of illegal sanctions. Its trade with other countries is severely restricted. Its oil revenues, amounting to some $120 billion, remain illegally frozen in western banks. Few countries have been able to withstand such pressure.
Credit also goes to the Iranian people for holding together under such difficult circumstances. They have held rallies every night in major cities in support of the government and against the US-zionist aggressors. This is a slap in the face of the evil duo who had claimed people would come out to overthrow the government.
How could they make such an assumption? With the cold-blooded murder of 168 young school girls in Menab on the first day of the illegal war (February 28), the Iranian people are seething with anger. Even those opposed to the government have rallied around it. Universities, hospitals, bridges and apartment buildings have all been bombed and destroyed. These constitute war crimes. American and Israeli rulers—both civilian and military—must be held accountable.
Iran’s military commanders devised a brilliant strategy to confront the war criminals. Leaders at the highest level had warned that if attacked, the war would not be confined to the borders of Iran. American military bases in the region will be targeted as would the zionist entity’s military installations.
Tehran launched swarms of drones and missiles to overwhelm US defence systems on more than 17 military bases in the region. This strategy proved highly effective. Initially, the US claimed little damage was done but since then, American media outlets, using satellite imagery, have reported massive damage to all US bases.
The Wall Street Journal was the first to report such damage followed by CNN and the Washington Post. In the face of such powerful Iranian strikes, US troops fled and took refuge in hotels in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia.
Iranian Shahed-136 drones pursued them into their hotel hideouts. The Cradle cheekily stated that Shahed-136 had launched “room service” for US soldiers in hotels across the region!
“The larger story,” according to the Cradle, “is that these bases may not be rebuilt at all. They are exposed, ruinously expensive, and now sit inside Iran’s demonstrated strike envelope.”
The Arabian dictators complained that Iran was hitting their ‘civilian infrastructure’. When enemy soldiers hide in hotels, they become legitimate military targets.
It is Iran’s control of the Strait of Hormuz that has given it tremendous new economic leverage. No ships—commercial or naval—can pass through without approval of Iran’s revolutionary guards naval forces (see also here).
Not only have oil prices skyrocketed but Tehran is also charging fees for ships allowed to transit through the narrow chokepoint. It has led to increased revenues for the Islamic Republic.
On the other hand, ordinary Americans are reeling from rising gas and grocery prices. This is a far cry from Trump’s promise that he would lower the cost of virtually everything for American consumers. Trump’s popularity has slumped. It has resulted in his uncontrolable outbursts against journalists and critics.
Not surprisingly, the illegal war on Iran is considered by 61% of Americans as a “mistake,” according to a May 1 poll. And 64% of people disapprove of Trump in the CNN Poll of Polls. This is extremely painful for a narcissist like Trump.
It has important implications for the mid-term elections in November. Republicans losing control of both houses of congress is a distinct possibility. This may result in Trump’s impeachment.
Some commentators have even expressed the fear that he may cancel the mid-term elections. Should that happen, a civil war cannot be ruled out.
We must, however, return to the question of what gives the Iranian people the resilience to withstand such barbaric attacks. Their courage has given hope and inspiration to hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
Martyrdom plays a very important role in the life-struggle of committed Muslims. They are inspired by the example of Imam Husain (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ), the Prophet’s (ﷺ) grandson who was martyred along with his family members in Karbala some 1400 years ago.
His martyrdom has particular resonance with Shi‘a Muslims although not exclusively, as witnessed in Gaza. Its manifestation in Lebanon, Yemen and Islamic Iran gives the Muslims an edge over those intoxicated by the power of technology.
Iran has just proved it, with far-reaching consequences for the West Asian region. It will never be the same after the Trump-Netanyahu folly.
