Thousands of Palestinians and Lebanses were massacred by Christian Phalangist forces supported by Zionist Israel in 1982. Reader Mohamed E. Hawash recalls the Zionist-Phalangist crimes.

It was 32 years ago that the Sabra and Shatilla massacre took place. It was premeditated genocide perpetrated by Israeli Generals Ariel Sharon, Rafael Eitan and Amir Drori, and the four Lebanese Christian militias of Pierre Gemayel, Camil Chamoun, Etienne Saqr and Saad Haddad. After occupying West Beirut, Sharon’s army surrounded the two camps and allowed Christian militias to enter at 4pm on September 16, 1982. The militias started killing the camps’ 20,000 inhabitants, a quarter of whom were Lebanese Muslims. Palestinians and Lebanese met the same fate. The carnage lasted until 10am on September 18.

Christian Lebanese warlords have long considered the Palestinians to be one too many and Sharon obliged by facilitating their genocidal mission. Lt. Col. Benny Barbash wrote that on several occasions, he heard Sharon say, “a good Arab is a dead Arab!”

Netanyahu is following in Sharon’s footsteps, striving to exterminate the rest of the Palestinians. Most American congress members as well as the corporate media are Netanyahu’s cheerleaders. Barack Obama, the so-called leader of the free world, is AIPAC’s house slave. Joe Biden is an avowed Zionist. Christian Zionists, that is, the Evangelicals, support Israel because the in-gathering of all Jews in Palestine is a prerequisite to the second coming of Christ and “the Rapture”! Arabian rulers, autocrats and dictators, are still the zeros that Bourguiba, the former Tunisian president, spoke of decades ago. The unscrupulous House of Saud and its henchmen in the Persian Gulf mini-states consider Uncle Sam to be a friend and ally. Some friend, some ally!
