The largest mosque in San Diego County, California was attacked today (May 18), resulting in the death of a security guard.

According to preliminary investigation, police believe that two men found dead near the mosque were the suspects.

They had died from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds, according to law enforcement officials.

Authorities are still trying to determine the details surrounding the shooting, the officials said.

The Islamic Center runs a full-time school.

Imam Taha Hassane, director of the Islamic Center of San Diego, said all children, teachers and staff are safe.

He issued the statement in a video released on social media.

“The entire school is safe. All the kids, all the staff, and the teachers are safe, out of the Islamic Center,” the Imam said.

“There is no threat at this moment.”

Imam Hassane asked everyone to “stay away” from the center.

“We want everyone to stay away from the Islamic Center of San Diego. We are closed for the rest of the day. Stay safe, stay at home, and make a lot of prayers,” he added.

Given the threat, the nearby Muslim Community Center of San Diego also closed its activities for the day.

The MCC announced it in a post on Facebook.

FBI agents in San Diego are assisting local law enforcement on the grounds of the mosque located in the Clairemont neighborhood.

The FBI said “this is an active and fluid scene” and it is “assessing the situation.”

While law enforcement agents may say the “threat has been neutralized”, the fact is that Muslim in the US—and indeed in Canada and Europe—face constant threats to their safety and security.

There has been an alarming rise in anti-Muslim bias and discrimination against peaceful Muslims throughout the United States.

This is stoked by zionist terrorists and their Christian fundamentalist allies.

These anti-Muslim bigots have received an enormous boost since Donald Trump’s rise to power.

He is an unabashed racist and bigot.

His cabinet and supporters’ base is full of hate-mongers.

Unfortunately, no Muslim can feel safe in America.

The US is a very violent society and has become much more dangerous for Muslims in recent years.

It would be simplicit to assume that the situation will improve anytime soon.

Even with precautionary measures—such as hiring a security guard at the Islamic Center of San Diego, for instance—did not prevent killings.

Fortunately the children and staff emerged unscathed, but it would be wrong to assume that the threat has dissipated.
