Toronto Rally on October 9 in solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people for freedom and end to zionist occupation

Thousands of Canadians from all walks of life packed the streets of Toronto today (October 9) to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.

People had started to gather in front of Toronto City Hall before the 2 pm call for the rally.

The supposedly progressive mayor of Toronto Olivia Chow said it was unauthorized.

The rally participants, already charged because of zionist barbarism against the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, were undeterred by Chow’s hypocritical stance.

She had condemned Hamas for trying to break the illegal siege of Gaza and end their prison-like conditions.

Chow was elected mayor of Toronto only a few months ago with massive Muslim support.

But she surrendered to zionist pressure and blackmail.

She was not alone in her total disregard for truth and justice.

A long list of Canadian politicians starting with Justin Trudeau, opposition leader Pierre Pollievre, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh and Ontario premier Doug Ford all joined the chorus of condemnation of Hamas.

They sang from the same hymn book provided to them by their pro-Israeli masters.

Such condemnations have failed to deter Canadians from expressing solidarity with Hamas and the Palestinian strugglers.

To resist their occupiers by whatever means necessary is a fundamental right recognized in international law.

This is what the Palestinians are exercising.

Not one of these politicians has ever had the decency or courage to condemn zionist barbarism against defenceless Palestinians.

As long as Israel is doing the killing, that is fine.

If Palestinians want to defend themselves, then all hell breaks loose.

The Palestinians have decided to end their prison-like conditions in Gaza, on their own.

Their daring operation launched in the early hours of October 7 delivered a rude shock to the arrogant zionists, and indeed their backers worldwide.

Canadians overwhelmingly oppose the craven policy of their government toward Israel.

They would like to see a fairer policy based on the fundamental principle of respect for human rights and dignity.

This was evident in today’s rally.

Attended by Canadians from all walks of life, the rally participants expressed support for the Palestinians’ struggle for self-determination and an end to occupation.

They also condemned Israel’s barbaric attacks on civilian infrastructure, including apartment buildings, schools and hospitals that have resulted in more than 650 deaths among Palestinians in Gaza.

These include at least 90 children and some 300 women.

Israel has destroyed entire blocks of apartments.

The aerial attacks are ongoing.

The zionists have also cut off electricity, gas, and food to the besieged Gaza Strip.

Hospitals are unable to treat the wounded because of lack of electricity.

These constitute war crimes for which not only the zionists but also their western backers will be held accountable.

By expressing solidarity with the Palestinians, Canadians have demonstrated that they do not agree with the policy adopted by their different levels of government: federal, provincial and municipal.

Their support for zionist war criminals will not go unnoticed.

They will pay a price at the ballot box.

Canadians should remember where these politicians stood when it came to the rights of the Palestinian people.
