Acting like an imperial warlord, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Gaza will not return to Hamas-rule.

He was speaking at the conclusion of the G7 foreign ministers’ summit in Tokyo (November 7-8) at which there was only a call for “humanitarian pause” but not a complete ceasefire in Gaza.

True, Blinken also talked about no occupation of Gaza [by Israel] but he said Gaza and the West Bank will be ruled by the Palestinian Authority (PA).

One wonders who gave Blinken or the G7 foreign ministers the authority to determine who should rule anywhere?

By not calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and repeatedly reiterating that “Israel has the right to defend itself”, it has given a greenlight to the zionist war criminals to continue their genocidal attacks on Gaza.

They need no encouragement to continue their murderous campaign killing women and children.

In the one-month period since the latest crisis intensified, Israel has murdered 10,569 Palestinians.

The vast majority are women and children (at least 70% of the total deaths).

Given this grim reality, there is overwhelming demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

This is reflected in the massive demonstrations that have occurred and continue to occur all over the world, including in western capitals.

On November 4, the largest pro-Palestinian rally in US history took place in Washington DC.

More than 300,000 people participated in the rally.

Similar demonstrations were held in New York, London (UK), Toronto and a host of other western cities.

The demand everywhere has been the same: “ceasefire now” and “immediate relief supplies to Gaza”.

These demands, however, have fallen on deaf years in western capitals.

The US leads the genocidal pack by extending unconditional support to the maniacal regime in Tel Aviv.

On November 7, the White House spokesperson Admiral John Kirby reiterated yet again, at a press conference that there are no “red lines” or the number of civilians the Israeli regime can kill.

He insisted the US would continue to support Benjamin Netanyahu’s genocidal attacks on civilians in complete disregard of International Law.

While the US and its close allies may be hell-bent on giving the zionist war criminals carte blanch, cracks are beginning to appear.

Belgium’s deputy prime minister called for sanctions against the zionist regime for war crimes.

It is time for sanctions against Israel. The rain of bombs in inhumane,” deputy prime minister Petra De Sutter told Nieuwsblad newspaper. “It is clear that Israel does not care about the international demands for a ceasefire,” she said.

Ione Belarra, Spain’s Minister for social rights and leader of the far-left Podemos party, was equally scathing in her condemnation of Israel’s “planned genocide” in Gaza.

She called out the west’s double standard in an interview with Al Jazeera, saying while human rights abuses in Ukraine have been decried, there is a “deafening silence” on the victims of Israeli bombardment.

Ms. Belarra was clear: Israel must be sanctioned, not given carte blanch to commit genocide in Gaza.

UN human rights experts have been equally scathing in their criticism of zionist attacks on Gaza calling them war crimes.

Balakrishnan Rajagopal, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, said today: “Carrying out hostilities with the knowledge that they will systematically destroy and damage civilian housing and infrastructure, rendering an entire city – such as Gaza city - uninhabitable for civilians is a war crime.”

Such systematic widespread destruction of housing, civilian objects and infrastructure are strictly prohibited by international humanitarian law, criminal law and human rights law, said the human rights expert.

“Such acts amount to war crimes and when directed against a civilian population, they also amount to crimes against humanity,” Rajagopal said.

In Canada, two polls, one by Angus Reid and the other by Mainstreet, released on November 7 clearly showed that a majority of Canadians support the idea of a ceasefire, either full or temporary.

This has also been echoed by a number of political parties including the Bloc Québécois.

The NDP, Green Party, many Liberal MPs, civil society groups, and the labour movement have all called for an immediate ceasefire.

Justin Trudeau’s government continues to act as cheer leader for Netanyahu’s genocidal regime.

Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) renewed their call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

In the absence of concerted international action, this is unlikely.

The other possibility is that massive casualties are inflicted on the zionists to force them to see the error of their barbaric tactics in Gaza.
