It is clear that the Zionists plan to demolish al-Masjid al-Aqsa and build in its place their mythical “third temple.” Gun-toting Zionist squatters are provided armed protection by the occupation forces and allowed to storm the sacred sanctuary desecrating its precincts as well as assaulting Muslims who try to protect the sacred site.

Muslims must also note that often the photograph of Dome of the Rock is used to depict the al-Masjid al-Aqsa. While the Dome is a much more impressive structure, it is not al-Masjid al-Aqsa. Strictly speaking, the entire area that is referred to as al-Haram al-Sharif constitutes al-Masjid al-Aqsa. This is what is referred to in the noble Qur’an (17:01). It comprises not only the two masjids but also a number of other smaller masjids, madrasahs and zawiyahs on the holy site.

There is need for proper understanding of what constitutes al-Masjid al-Aqsa as well as the Zionist plot to demolish it. God forbid, if the Zionists were to succeed in their nefarious agenda, it would be of little help for Muslims to shed tears or protest afterward. The time to act for its defence is now.
