Independent Jewish Voices (IJV), an organization representing non-zionist Jewish persons, has come out strongly against the Harper government's designation of the International Relief Fund for the Afflicted and Needy (IRFAN), a Toronto-based charity, as a terrorist organization. IRFAN's charitable status was suspended in 2009. It appealed the decision and was to have a court hearing later this week when the government pre-empted it.

The US justice system is grossly unjust, as a new study into the number of people convicted of murder has just shown. Conducted out by legal experts, the study has found that more than 4.1 percent of people on death row, most of them African-Americans or Hispanics, have been wrongfully convicted.

It is difficult to tell who is worse: the men in uniform or those in robes on the benches in Egypt? Both kill innocent people for no other crime than demanding their fundamental rights. The men in uniform kill with guns and bullets while those in robes sentence people to death in trials that are so outlandish, they cannot even be described as farcical. The US and its British allies are running secret prisons in Afghanistan away from any oversight or control of the Afghan government. The US-run torture chamber at Bagram was taken over by Afghan forces earlier this year releasing many people that were never charged with any crime. Two secret prisons have been discovered at Qandar and in Helmand province; the latter being run by the British. Afghan President Hamid Karzai is very upset.

Saudi Princess Sahar, the daughter of King Abdullah has issued a call for the people to rise up against the regime. Sahar and her three sisters are kept hostage in two separate houses in Jeddah while their mother, Al-Anood al-Fayez, divorced from King Abdullah, fled the kingdom to live in exile in London. Princess Sahar's call is supremely courageous and could cause her more harm but it seems she is not afraid.
