Edward Snowden’s explosive revelations have put the US intelligence agencies on the spot. The American people are beginning to wake up to the police state in which they are living and want an end to this state of affairs.

The tyrannical regimes in the Middle East are a bundle of contradictions. They are not sure who their friends or enemies are. While they are fighting each other, there are major contradictions in their relations pointing to extreme opportunism rather than policies based on principles.

The hysteria over the use of chemical weapons in Syria, wrongly accusing the Syrian government of using them, has inadvertently focused spotlight on the West’s own use of poison gas and chemical weapons. The West’s record is horrible.

The subversion of Khilafah by the Ummayyad dynasty has led to two divergent memories in the Ummah. The Muslim masses yearn for memory based on Prophetic and Khilafah history while the ruling elites continue to push the memory of mulukiyya.

Muslim organizations and their leaders are being challenged to adopt an anti-intervention policy as permanent feature of their discourse. It is not likely but what the call shows is that ordinary Muslims are beginning to challenge the spineless leadership.

The US and Saudi-backed regime in Bahrain continues to torture not only adults but also children. There is ample evidence about its horrible behaviour although it would be difficult to find much discussion of this in the Western media.

Muslims are supposed to be witnesses to Allah’s Greatness and flag-bearers of truth and justice.

Muslims have the Qur’an and the Sunnah and the Seerah of the noble Messenger (saws). They have everything they need to begin to live a life of dignity rather than fighting each other.

Libya is in a mess, thanks to the Western-trained and armed militias. The people continue to suffer but the West is not bothered. Their purpose was to destroy the country; they have succeeded in that.

With their policy in disarray over Syria, there is confusion and panic among the hordes of princes in Saudi Arabia. Based on recent statements and developments, there are clearly deep divisions on how to handle the fast changing situation. There are those (Bandar, for instance) that want to intensify interference in Syria while others want to cut their losses since they see the writing on the wall.
