Donald Trump is rude and crude. If he is not molesting women that he says he can get away with because he is rich and powerful, he is threatening regimes to pay up.

His favorite whipping boy is the Bani Saud clan, or more precisely, the Salmans that currently occupy almost all the levers of power in the medieval kingdom.

Not satisfied with the $110 billion arms contract that was agreed during his visit to the kingdom in May 2017, Trump wants more. In fact, that contract was expanded to $350 billion. The moron-in-chief in the White House said the US will sell “beautiful weapons” to Saudi Arabia.

His latest extortion demand came during a campaign rally in West Virginia on September 29 when Trump said he had “complained” that Washington was not getting what it should from Saudi Arabia.

During a phone conversation with Saudi King Salman, Trump said he had told the aged monarch that Riyadh had “trillions of dollars” and could pay its military bills.

Last March, when crown prince Muhammad bin Salman visited the US, Trump had said the Saudis have billions of dollars and they will give them to us. “We know that and they know that,” said Trump as Bin Salman smiled sheepishly.

Now Trump has upped the ante. He says the Saudis have “trillions of dollars”. Whether they do or not, he seems determined to milk them.

“I love Saudi Arabia. They are great, King Salman, I spoke with him this morning,” said Trump at the West Virginia rally on Saturday.

“I said, king, you have got trillions of dollars. Without us, who knows what’s going to happen... With us they are totally safe. But we don’t get what we should be getting,” Trump revealed at yesterday’s rally.

So Trump was telling the Saudis the US has a share in the kingdom’s trillions of dollars of wealth. Nice way to put it. This is a play on Dick Cheney’s infamous claim that Iraq has “our oil under their soil”, before the US launched an illegal war on that hapless country in March 2003.

Trump does not even bother to couch his extortionist demands in polite language. The rationale he advanced for his demand for more money is that the US is subsiding the Saudi military.

“We are subsidizing their military. I said let me ask you a question. Why are we subsidizing the military — it’s one thing if a country is in deep trouble and in danger,” he noted. “I said ‘Saudi Arabia, you are rich, you have got to pay for your military. You have got to pay for your military, sorry’.”

How is the US subsiding the Saudi military Trump did not explain. He feels he does not have to explain anything as far as the Saudis are concerned. They must do as they are told.

During the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Washington earlier this year, Trump had blurted out that if the US stopped propping up the Saudi regime, it would collapse in one week.

When the man has so much contempt for the Saudis, it shows what a pathetic bunch the Saudis are.

But slaves cannot expect to be treated any differently.
