Trump at the UN: Madman with a megaphone!

American psychiatrists have called him mentally unstable; politicians have called him dangerous. In his first speech to the UN General Assembly yesterday, Donald Trump did nothing to dispel these concerns.
On the contrary, his speech confirmed all the worst fears people had about him.
As Trump launched into his rant from the UN podium, many delegates covered their faces in embarrassment. There were gasps of disbelief as he threatened to “totally destroy” North Korea.
He lumped Iran and Venezuela along with North Korea among “a small group of rogue regimes”. The chief sponsor of terrorism and wars called the victims of terrorism “rogues”.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif was quick to respond on twitter: “Trump’s ignorant hate speech belongs in medieval times”, and not the UN. He went on: “It’s unworthy of a response”. “Fake empathy for Iranians fools no one,” he stressed.
President Hassan Rouhani of Iran will address the UN General Assembly today. He is likely to touch on Iran’s position vis-à-vis the nuclear deal.
Trump’s paranoia was also on full display as he launched into a vicious tirade against North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un, saying: “Rocket man is on a suicide mission.” This was a reference to North Korea’s nuclear and missile tests to defend itself against threats from the US and South Korea.
:If [the US] is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea,” Trump said at UN.
The North Korean delegation that was seated right in front walked out the moment Trump got up to speak. Pyongyang has yet to respond to attacks by the US president but it is certain they will not be polite.
North Korea’s position is entirely defensive. It was bombed and virtually destroyed during the Korean war of 1950–1953. The US still maintains more than 10,000 troops and much military hardware on the Korean Peninsula that the North rightly sees as threatening them.
Further, the US, South Korea and Japan have been holding provocative war games in the region. The North has repeatedly called for their suspension in return for considering terminating its nuclear and missile tests.
The US has not only dismissed this proposal out of hand, the corporate media even refuses to report on this reasonable offer from the North.
Warmonger and mass murderers control the levers of power in the US that benefit from global instability and wars. A peaceful world is not to their advantage, hence the dangerous rhetoric laced with racism against North Korea and any other country that tries to chalk out an independent policy.
President Nicholas Maduro of Venezuela reminded Trump that he was not the president of the world and that he had no business interfering in other country’s internal affairs. He called him the “new Hitler”.
Venezuela has been wracked by US-instigated and financed mob violence aimed at overthrowing the legitimate government of the country.
Many Western leaders were equally appalled at Trump’s crude remarks.
The BBC quoted Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom as saying: “It was the wrong speech, at the wrong time, to the wrong audience.”
Only his fellow warmonger (aka prime minister of Israel), Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s crude remarks, especially about Iran.
Trump’s aim is to destroy the nuclear deal with Iran because American officials are never sincere in their dealings. The build-up of rhetoric is aimed at opening the deal to renegotiations in which the US would demand inspection of Iran’s military sites.
The first step along this dangerous path is to pressure the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the body tasked with verifying Iran’s compliance with the deal, to say that Tehran is not complying.
Nikki Haley, the crude and aggressive American ambassador to the UN, has already been to Geneva to pressure IAEA officials.
If the agency were to buckle under US pressure, Trump would then say that Iran is not in compliance and would ask Congress to re-impose sanctions that were lifted after the deal.
The late Imam Khomeini’s designation of the US as the Great Satan still stands.
