The tapes in which Erdogan tells his son to hide a billion euros, have gone viral. Erodgan is calling foul while the opposition parties are calling for his head. It will be interesting to see how this latest round of "revelations" play out.

The US and its Western and Arabian allies are determined to intensify the conflict in Syria. Recent reports suggest the Saudis are planning to supply missiles to the takfiris in Syria in a bid to turn the tide of war. The net result will be more bloodshed and the suffering of Syrian people.

The Americans are faced with fighting on two fronts in Afghanistan now: against the Taliban and Hamid Karzai's government. They have intensified their campaign of destabilization in Pakistan.

The trial of deposed President Mohamed Mursi has been postponed until Monday February 24 by the Cairo Criminal Court. At his court appearance today, President Mursi urged his supporters to continue their “peaceful revolution.”

The uppity Bandar bin Sultan has been given the boot as Saudi spy chief. The Syrian file has been taken away from him and handed over to Interior Minister Mohammed bin Nayef in a clear indication that the Saudi regime has come around to accepting defeat in its destructive policy in Syria. It is trying to cut its losses and find a face-saving exit from the mess.

The Western-inspired unrest in Ukraine can only go so far. Russia will not allow its interests to be undermined in such a brazen manner by the US. Without European Union support, that has no stomach for a fight on its borders, the US will not achieve its objectives.
