The latest episode is the announcement by New York City mayor, Bill de Blasio that he would fulfill his campaign promise to recognize Muslim holidays in the public school calendar. The illegal surveillance of Muslims and infiltration of mosques by NYPD agents provocateurs, however, will continue.

Officials and the people of the Islamic Republic should not fall for the guile of American officials, said the Rahbar in a speech to Air Force Commanders. He said the US would, if it could, overthrow the Islamic system of government. It has failed not for lack of trying but because it is based on Islamic principles and is backed by the Iranian people. He also called upon officials and people to continue with the resistance economy.

Under a UN-brokered deal, food aid has started to the besieged city of Homs. This follows on the heels of a similar deal to send food packages to the Yarmouk refugee camp. According to Palestinian sources more than 5,000 packages have been delivered to Yarmouk at the rate of 1000 packages per day. Also, militants holed up in the two locales want to negotiate a deal and surrender their weapons.

Eleventh hour cancellation of peace talks between the two committees representing the government and the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan has raised doubts about peace. Maulana Samiul Haq, who heads the Taliban committee even expressed fears that a military campaign may be launched. He urged the Taliban to show patience and not do anything rash. There are many players, both in Pakistan and outside that do not want the peace talks to succeed.
