A massive car bomb exploded in Beirut's commercial district early today killing the former finance minister, Mohammad Shatah and five other people. At least 10 buildings were set on fire as ambulances rushed to the scene to pick up the wounded and dead. The explosion is bound to sharpen divisions in Lebanon. Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri hinted at Hizbullah's involvement, something the resistance group does not indulge in.

Egypt's military-installed regime and the military itself, are going after the Ikhwan al-Muslimoon with a sledgehammer. The organization has been banned by declaring it a “terrorist” group. Not only its leaders and members but anyone raising their voice in support are being hauled to prison. Many charities dependent on donations from the Ikhwan have closed down. The so-called liberals have applauded the ban.

The US continues to murder innocent people in Pakistan under what it describes as targeting “militants.” No proof is ever provided; what the US says, goes. Under mounting public pressure, Pakistan has said it will raise the issue at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Will the Washington warlords listen, or care?

Pro-Ikhwan, anti-military regime protests continue in Egypt.

Turkey is in the midst of a major scandal whose roots can be traced all the way to Philadelphia in the US and to the zionists there. A series of dramatic arrests on December 17 has rocked the government of Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdogan. The sons of three of his ministers, including Interior Minister Muammer Guler (photo) as well as businessmen and chief of the Halkbank have been arrested. Erdogan calls it a deep conspiracy.

The Saudi regime uses different means to divide Muslims. One is to spread hatred against some Muslims thereby confusing others. Many innocent Muslims think that just because a Saudi preacher is appointed to lead prayers in Masjid al-Haram or Masjid-e Nabawi, that he must be a great scholar of Islam. One such preacher, Adel al-Kalbani was denied entry into Britain because the authorities felt he would merely create divisions.
